Foot Problems Keeping You Down? Find Helpful Tips Here

The condition of your feet can reveal much about your health. If the skin on your feet is dry, flaky and scaly, you're probably hydrated and need to drink more water. I didn't know this until I spoke to my podiatrist last month about my painful foot problem. Instead of drinking more water during the day, I simply slathered creams all over my feet. The creams only moisturized the top layer of my feet and not the skin cells beneath it. I actually learned quite a bit about how to protect my feet by eating and drinking healthier. I want to share this knowledge with you through my blog. You learn how to protect your feet by making healthier choices in your life, as well as tips on when to see a podiatrist and why. Good luck and thanks for stopping by.

What Is Causing Your Foot Pain?

Your feet take you everywhere you want to go, and all of this time on your feet can lead to some pain over time. If your feet are in pain, it could be due to something you are doing to your feet. There's a chance that it is something out of your control, but there may also be things you are doing that are causing your feet to be in pain. Read on for a few things that may be causing your foot pain and what you can do differently.

Your Shoes Are Not The Right Fit

If your shoes are not the right fit for your feet, it can cause you to be in pain. If your feet are wide, you need to wear wide shoes because narrow shoes may squeeze your feet and lead to issues such as bunions. Wear shoes that are wide enough for your feet and that give you enough room for your feet to wiggle around. If your shoes are so narrow that it causes you pain or causes you to not be able to walk properly, you need different shoes.

Your Shoes Don't Have The Right Support

If your shoes do not offer enough support for your feet, you may have pain in your heels, arches, or ankles. Your shoes should offer support to your entire foot. If they are not giving you enough support, you may end up with pain or injuries. Your shoes should support your arches, ankles, heels, and toes. If your shoes are too worn out, you should swap them out for new ones that give you the support they need.

Your Shoes Have Too High Of A Heel

If your shoes are too tall for your feet, they can press your feet forward and cause issues such as heel pain, or pain in the pads of your feet. You can also injure your ankle if you wear too high of a heel.

You Aren't Clipping Your Nails Properly

If you aren't clipping your nails properly, you may end up with an ingrown toenail. You should clip your nails straight across, never at an angle. You can file them at an angle but do not clip them at an angle. Do not dig the sides of the nails out from the nail bed, as this can cause your nails to grow into the skin and be painful when you walk.

If you have foot pain, you could be causing the problem. Contact a local podiatrist to learn more.
